The founder of adidas is Adolf (Adi) Dassler, who shortened his name to give the company its name. Adi Dassler was born on 3 November 1900 in Herzogenaurach, Germany, and was a keen sportsman from an early age. The adidas symbol is the three white stripes usually located on the outside of the sleeves or on the outer sides of the shoes. In 1972, the company adopted a new logo called the trefoil, which resembles a trefoil with three stripes. adidas promotes three variations of the logo around the world, depending on the nature of the collection. This is the Performance logo, which takes the form of three pyramid-shaped stripes and denotes the largest, predominantly sports collection. The Originals logo, which takes the form of a trefoil, denotes the life-style fashion collection. The last, the round Style logo, denotes the casual wear collection. The Style logo only appeared in the Czech Republic in 2010.
